Planning a wedding can feel like a whirlwind of decisions, but don’t worry—I’m here to help! Over my 13 years as a celebrant on the Central Coast, I’ve been asked just about every question under the sun. To make things easier for you, I’ve put together answers to some of the most common questions couples have about their big day.

1. WHAT EXACTLY DOES A MARRIAGE CELEBRANT DO?

Think of me as your magical fairy godmother—minus the age of a grandmother! I’m here to sprinkle a little magic on your wedding day, guiding you through the entire process with ease. From helping you choose the perfect vows to ensuring all the legal paperwork is sorted, I’ll be there every step of the way. On the big day, I’ll lead the ceremony, making sure it’s personal, meaningful, and just the way you’ve always dreamed. Plus, I’m pretty great at calming any last-minute nerves, so you can focus on the best part—celebrating your love!

2. HOW DO WE PERSONALISE OUR CEREMONY?

Personalising your ceremony is like adding your own sparkle to a magical day! Imagine your ceremony as a one-of-a-kind love potion, brewed just for you. I’m here to help you mix in all the ingredients that make your love story unique. Whether it’s sharing that hilarious story of how you met, adding a special reading that gives you all the feels, or even surprising your guests with a secret handshake—together, we’ll create a ceremony that’s as uniquely you as your favourite inside joke. Let’s make your ceremony a celebration of everything that makes your love truly magical!

3. WHAT LEGAL REQUIREMENTS DO WE NEED TO MEET?

Ah, the legal bits—think of them as the spell that makes your marriage official! In Australia, there are a few magical words we need to include to make sure everything’s above board. As your celebrant, I’m required to say 125 legal words (don’t worry, they’re short and sweet), and you’ll need to say each other’s full names at least once during the ceremony. It’s like saying the secret code that unlocks your happily ever after!

Now, about the paperwork—don’t stress! I’ll take care of filling in the Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) for you and guide you through the entire process, step by step. You just need to provide the details, and I’ll handle the rest, making sure everything is done correctly and on time—no enchanted quills needed!

On the day, you’ll need two witnesses who are over 18 to sign the marriage documents. After the ceremony, I’ll send off your paperwork to Births, Deaths, and Marriages, and voilà—you’re officially hitched!

4. HOW LONG SHOULD OUR CEREMONY BE?

Believe it or not, there’s a sweet spot for a wedding ceremony—24 minutes! Yep, that’s the magic number. Any shorter and you might leave your guests wondering if they blinked and missed it; any longer, and they might start eyeing the cake table! Of course, we can make it a bit shorter or longer depending on what you want to include, but 24 minutes keeps things meaningful, fun, and just the right amount of magical. Together, we’ll time it perfectly so your guests are grinning, tearing up, and cheering you on at just the right moments.

5. CAN WE WRITE OUR OWN VOWS?

Absolutely! Writing your own vows is like crafting a love letter that you get to read out loud in front of all your favourite people. If you’re feeling stuck or don’t know where to start, don’t worry—it’s all part of my service! I’ll help you brainstorm ideas, add the right mix of sweet and funny, and make sure you don’t forget to mention the big stuff (like how much you love each other!). Whether your vows are serious, poetic, or full of inside jokes, I’m here to guide you through the whole process, making sure they’re 100% you.

6. DO WE NEED A REHEARSAL?

Nope! Life doesn’t come with a rehearsal, and neither does love, so why rehearse the most real and beautiful moment of your life? Your wedding day is all about the magic of the moment, and no amount of practice can perfect the way you’ll look at each other when you say “I do.” We’ll roll with the love, the laughs, and maybe even a happy tear or two—because that’s where the real magic happens!

7. HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD WE BOOK OUR CELEBRANT?

It’s a good idea to book your celebrant as soon as you’ve set your wedding date, especially if you’re getting married during peak wedding season. This ensures you have plenty of time to plan your ceremony and gives us the chance to work together on creating something truly special.

8. WHAT HAPPENS IF THE WEATHER TURNS BAD?

Rain on your wedding day? No worries—we’ve got a Plan B! And trust me, 9 times out of 10, you won’t need it, but it’s always better to be prepared. Here’s the scoop: my PA system can’t get wet (it costs a bomb!), the musician’s equipment is equally precious, and let’s not forget the camera crew—if the photographer or videographer’s gear gets soaked, there goes your wedding footage! Oh, and the paperwork—if that’s ruined, there’s no legally binding marriage, and we don’t want that. So, while we’re hoping for sunshine, having a Plan B ensures everything and everyone stays dry and your day goes off without a hitch, rain or shine.

9. CAN WE INCLUDE OUR PETS IN THE CEREMONY?

Absolutely, and I love it when pets are part of the big day—especially dogs! Your furry friends are part of the family, so why shouldn’t they be part of the celebration? Whether they’re walking down the aisle, acting as ring bearers, or just hanging around for some extra tail-wagging joy, I’m all for it. Just make sure someone’s on hand to help with their VIP (Very Important Pet) duties, so they can enjoy the day as much as you do!

10. HOW DO WE GET STARTED?
